MEANING AND PURPOSE
The Children of Alpha
Consider these two statements:-
First:
"A man ejected a primitive form of himself, a sperm which united with a woman's egg. By virtue of its attribute of life, the egg multiplied and differentiated. The cells organised collectively to form a foetus; the foetus evolved until finally taking the shape of a human child. The child grew and became another man or woman - created out of the substance of the father - like him, but a different individual; part of him, but distinct.
The father had reproduced."
Second:
"Alpha-Holon
the SuperAether emitted a primitive form of Himself when He created the universe ('In the beginning was the Word'). This was primal Aether and it united with energy. By virtue of its divine nature, Aether differentiated. The primal Aether of the "meps" organised collectively to form atoms; the atoms organised collectively to form molecules. Aethers continued to evolve into ever higher orders, each bearing a closer and closer resemblence to their Father. Finally, an Aether reached the level of the Father Himself, like Him, but a different individual; part of Him, but distinct.
Alpha-Holon the Father had reproduced."
You see, it is a fundamental proposition of our world scheme that the evolution of Aether is, and always has been, a continuing process. This means that in logic it can only end at the highest existent level, which is the level of Alpha-Holon Himself.
This is the central meaning of our existence. As parts of Alpha-Holon, we are contributors to His growth, evolving to the state where we shall have become truly the Children of Alpha-Holon, His companions and His fellow-workers in unimaginable fields of activity and creativity.
The Evolution of Alpha-Holon
So now we have arrived at last at the most momentous deduction of all. We got a hint of it when we defined the necessary attributes of Alpha-Holon as influential power, knowledge, creativity and free-will, but we skated round the contradictions which arise from them - contradictions which we can illustrate by demanding answers to such questions as:
"How could the Omniscient learn?" - For if He knew everything already, how could He learn what He already knew?
"How could the Omniscient create?"( - For if He knew all, how could He create something which was new and therefore unknown?
"How could the Omniscient have free-will?" - For if already He knew all that He could do, how could He have choice?
The key to these paradoxical questions lies in future time:
When you learn, you acquire knowledge for the future which you did not know in the past.
When you create, you make something for the future which did not exist in the past.
When you exercise free-will, you make a choice for the future which did not exist in the past.
So, if Alpha-Holon learns, He can predict the future, but He cannot know it.
If Alpha-Holon creates, He cannot know what He will create. Therefore He cannot know the future.
If Alpha-Holon has free-will, the future cannot be predetermined, and if it is not predetermined, it is not known.
Thus Alpha-Holon cannot know the future. And if Alpha-Holon's future is not known, then He can change.
And you know, we should have deduced this from the start, once we had set down the Proposition of Universality; once we had perceived the unity of all things; once we had grasped as the central truth of our existence that we are parts of Alpha-Holon the Whole.
Our new perspective was to see that what was true of us must, in varying degree, be true of all other individual Aethers, of whatever level. And this must also include the SuperAether, Alpha-Holon Himself.
Of course, our little minds cannot imagine directly the nature of the Ultimate. We cannot conceive of the humanly inconceivable. But so long as we know that we are parts of Alpha-Holon and must therefore partake of His nature, then we can proclaim certain basic truths:-
"ALPHA-HOLON IS GOD. GOD IS ALPHA-HOLON"
"WE EXIST. THEREFORE GOD EXISTS."
"WE ENDURE. THEREFORE GOD ENDURES." That is to say, He exists in what we know as time.
"WE CHANGE AND WE EVOLVE. THEREFORE GOD CHANGES. THEREFORE GOD IS EVOLVING."
There we have it. So simple, so obvious - once one has grasped the unity of all things; once one has grasped that we are all parts of God. Then, since His parts are evolving, He is evolving.
And what a relief to know that our Creator, the Lord of All Being can change, is changing. What ineffable dreariness lay in the concept of an eternal Rock of Ages, of an unwinking Master-Computer, of an almighty Lifelessness.
GOD IS NOT STATIC: GOD IS DYNAMIC.
GOD IS ALIVE. GOD IS NOT DEAD !
Our Divine Calling
This is the thrilling conclusion. It means that the purpose of our lives, the purpose of our evolution, is not just a selfish striving for self-improvement, to win promotion to ever higher rank in a fixed hierarchical system, but an unselfish striving to make our own tiny, but finite, contribution to the evolution of Alpha-Holon, of God the Whole.
We do not have to wait until we have achieved our ultimate destiny as Companions of God, but are making our little contribution to His evolution at every stage of our own development, with every act He is aware of and with every thought that touches His perception.
And the essence of evolution is creativity. As part of God, we are contributors, however infinitesimal, to a process of continuous creation and re-creation.
The exercise and development of our creative attribute gives high purpose to our existence.
WE ARE SIGNIFICANT. WE DO MATTER.
WE ARE PARTNERS IN A DYNAMIC OF CREATION.
WE ARE PART OF THE EVOLUTION OF GOD.
THIS IS THE SUBLIME MEANING.
THIS IS OUR SUPREME CALLING.
